Mrs. Perez's First Grade Homework Policy
Grading Plan
Any homework given will be for practice purposes only. Students are expected to practice Math and Reading Daily. No grade will be given for homework. Homework will be reviewed for participation and students will be given time to ask questions and get clarification.
Homework Assignments
Students should read for 10-20 minutes everyday.
Students will be given homework assignments for the week on Monday to be turned in on Friday. Besides reading for 10-20 min, students are not expected to complete homework on the weekend. Homework will be as follows
- Read for 10-20 minutes every night
- One math worksheet weekly sent home on Monday.
- Letterland spelling words (Can be found in the weekly newsletter on this site)
Monday - read the list A words, tricky words and sentences out loud to a grown-up
Tuesday - Practice writing the words without looking at them
(A look, Say , Cover, Write worksheet can be found with the newsletter
on this site. it is optional. Notebook paper will be fine.)
Wednesday- Choose 5 words from your list A or Tricky words to write in a sentence.
Thursday -Have a grown up give you a practice spelling test with you List A, Trick words, and sentences.
- Occasionally school is out due to holidays or weather. Students should make every effort to make up the letterland practice as they will still be test.
**Homework completed throughout the eek will be removed from the folder on Friday. Homework folders will not go home on Fridays.
Classwork & Assessments
Students will complete classwork and assessments in the time period assigned.
Missed Work
It is very important that students attend regularly. Most work can not be made up. All assessments will be taken at the designated date and time regardless of prior absences. If a student misses an assessment it will be made up as soon as possible upon return. A large majority of grades come from assessments and observations.
Extra Credit
This is not applicable at the elementary level due to standards based grading.
